So what is the "Gelding Contest"?  

In 2002 The NPHC board was approached by a club member about a nice gelding they wanted to donate to the club.  The Board decided as an incentive to  increase Junior participation they would have a "free gelding" contest for one lucky Junior.  Each year a club member has graciously "stepped up" to donate a "Safe, well-bred, show quality" Gelding. We are now seeing these geldings and their owners in the show ring.

The criteria is simple---a junior must submit permission contract with references, submit an essay, participate in the NPHC annual show, and while at the show--- be judged on sportsmanship and herdsmanship.  The individual show "show placings" are not a factor.  

The success of this program has increased junior participation level so a pre-show season free "Junior Clinic" has also been added.  For more information and details about the NPHC Junior Gelding contest or any other Junior activities --please contact Annie Kiesow at:   djjrbend@aol.com.
